Me again, with my second entry into the World of Zutara week.  This time around, I took my inspiration from the movie Wall-E, which you simply MUST see if you haven't yet.  It's a minor inspiration, all things considered, but it's the spark that set this entry off.  Anyway, here you go, and I hope you enjoy.

My mom and dad are both in their sixties. Mom left dad alone to visit me. My sister went over to see how he was. He's a little bit "special" sometimes.

He was frying a piece of meat.

In the toaster.

Two days later it caught on fire. And for the life of him he couldn't figure out why.

I have a tattoo of a bee on my arm, just below the wrist. It's very realistic and detailed, but also bigger than a real bee by at least 1x.
I also work retail, and as such see customers all the time every day forever and ever. I have never had any reaction to the tattoo other than YAY! AWESOME TATTOO!

Today was different. This occurred as I was ringing up a customer, a woman who appeared to be mid 40s-50ish, maybe.

Me: That will be $Xx.XX *reaches for a bag*
Woman: OH MY GOD YOU HAVE A BEE ON YOUR ARM! OH MY GOD!*looks horrified*
Me: *thinking she means my tattoo* Yes, I really like..
Woman: *cuts me off* OH MY GOD A BEE! GET IT OFF IT WILL STING OH GOD! *hits my arm with her purse*
Me: *recoils arm* Ma'am that is a tattoo
Woman: *not listening* YOU HAVE A BEE! ON YOUR ARM THERE'S A BEE! *terrified*
Me: *holds up arm, taps tattoo with my fingers* Oh, no worries, it is a tattoo! *smile*
Woman: *sudden and horrendous anger* OH MY GOD WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?
Me:.... I like bees a lot.
Woman: That is extremely rude! It's rude to trick people like that!
Me: Well I'm sorry if you were upset
Woman: It SHOULD BE ILLEGAL TO GET TATTOOS THAT OFFEND OR FRIGHTEN OTHERS

And then she left. So.. Uh huh. It's totally rude for me to have a tattoo, and totally ok for her to HIT PEOPLE WITH HER PURSE. Also, she thinks my bee is awful? Egad, woman.

I'm really sorry for all of these. when I'm looking through a magazine or watching tv, I can't help but fall in love with every font. I'm way too curious. these aren't important so don't feel obligated to identify all of them. although, they are cute. click each picture for a larger view.

Q: I am dealing with a low-magic fantasy world, which has had to step up it's technology due to the lack of magic and the influx of a number of intelligent people. The world has access to almost everything we have. The catch is that combustion and electricity do not work. So this nation of half a million gifted people, who start at a near rennaisance period (minus guns) has had 200 years to work on their technology, minus anything having to do with combustion or engineering. Furthermore, there are no fossil fuels including coal and gasoline.

Ummm... This is a little nit-picky, but a while ago, I read a quote that went something to the effect of "I have bursts of being a lady, but they usually don't last long," and I think it was by someone named Shelby or Shelly Walton, but I want to be certain who said it, and the exact phrasing before I try to actually use the quote.... So, if anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.

I know there's a colloquial term for when someone has eyes of different colour, but can't track it down. Preferably opprobrious - my character is talking about the Emperor Anastasius in a very uncomplimentary manner, and as spoken Greek of the time could be as vulgar as Vulgar Latin, the English term I need to use also needs to be slangy. UK for preference, but all contributions gratefully accepted.

Terms searched for were combinations of eye colour, mismatch, variation, terms, colloquialism, slang (checked out mosaicism but no colloquialisms there!)
